ORANGE APPOINTED AS PR AGENCY FOR DENHAY FARMS
Orange has been appointed as the PR agency for Denhay, the family-run Devon bacon producer that has been hand dry-curing Britain's finest bacon for almost thirty years.
It's an appointment we're genuinely proud of. Denhay is a brand with real provenance - a business founded in 1952, a Royal Warrant, and a reputation built entirely on doing things properly - and as a specialist food and drink PR agency, brands like this are where we do our best work.
Nearly seventy-five years on, the brand’s reputation has been built on quality, consistency and a refusal to cut corners in a category where plenty of others have.
That kind of heritage is worth a great deal, and it's also easy to take for granted. In a supermarket chiller where every pack claims to be premium, a brand that has genuinely earned the description has a real advantage, but only if shoppers know the story behind it. Denhay's Royal Warrant, its farming roots and its decades of craft are exactly the sort of credentials that cut through, and our job as a PR agency is to make sure they're front and centre.
Orange works with food and drink brands right across the category, including everything from start up challenger brands like PerfectTed through to heritage brands like Denhay.
We're the national PR agency for Tiptree, one of Britain's most iconic food brands as well as Fairfields Farm, the family-run Essex crisp producer that grows its own potatoes, and with Suffolk brewer Mauldons.
What those brands have in common isn't just longevity. It's that each of them has a genuine story - a family, a farm, a place, a way of doing things - that a well-told PR campaign can bring to life in a way advertising simply can't. Consumers are increasingly sceptical of brands that tell them how good they are. They're far more receptive to a journalist, a food writer or a broadcaster telling them instead.
That's the case for earned media, and it's particularly strong for a brand like Denhay.
OUR PR SERVICES
Our remit covers national and regional media relations, with a focus on getting Denhay in front of both the national food, farming and lifestyle press and the South West audiences who have known the brand for generations.
That means proactive storytelling, building relationships with the journalists who cover the category, positioning the Denhay team as credible voices on British farming and food production, and making sure the brand is in the conversation whenever the subjects it has real authority on come up.
Alongside consumer PR, we'll be supporting the brand with trade media relations and digital PR that builds search visibility - because for a food brand, being findable matters as much as being famous.
First Up: Denhay's Biggest Launch Of The Year
The timing of the appointment was deliberate, and the first big moment has now landed.
From this week, Denhay's new Made Without Nitrites range is on shelf in 570 Tesco stores - two lines, Smoked Back Bacon and Unsmoked Back Bacon, both 200g. It's the producer's first listing with Tesco in many years and its biggest launch of the year, answering growing shopper demand for a premium clean-label bacon that doesn't compromise on how it's made.
Both lines use Denhay's bespoke curing recipe, the quality of which is recognised by the brand's Royal Warrant, and are dry-cured using 100% Outdoor Bred, RSPCA Assured pork at Denhay's own BRC AA+ accredited site.
It caps a strong few weeks for the brand, which was named Best Bacon at the Meat Management Awards earlier this month for its Denhay Smoked Back. There's plenty more to come over the next few months, and we'll be sharing it as it happens.
Bringing Back Proper PR For British Food Brands
At Orange, our mission is to bring back proper PR: thoughtful storytelling, strong media relationships and creative campaigns that earn attention rather than buying it.
For a brand with Denhay's history, that means treating the heritage as an asset rather than a footnote, and finding the angles that make a business founded in 1952 feel relevant to shoppers today. It's the kind of brief we love, and we're already deep into it.
We're delighted to be working with the Denhay team, and we're looking forward to sharing what's coming.
