SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS: A TESCO LAUNCH, A WEDDING CAMPAIGN THAT WENT NATIONWIDE AND TWO NEW CLIENTS
September was a big one at Orange.
Two national supermarket listings went live. A campaign built on our client’s research landed right across the wedding press. A brand-new studio opened on our doorstep. And we signed two new clients we're excited to begin working with.
And, as happens every single year, Christmas quietly became a full-time job.
Because that's the thing nobody outside of PR quite believes: Christmas doesn't start in December. It starts now. September is when the festive gift guides get written, when the long-lead features close, and when half your week disappears into pitching mince pies and Christmas crisps while it's still warm enough to sit outside. Get it right in autumn and you're in the gift guides right up until Christmas Eve.
Here's what September looked like.
Denhay Farms Lands In Tesco
The big one.
September saw
Denhay Farms' new Made Without Nitrites bacon range go live in Tesco - the moment we'd been building towards since the day we were appointed as the brand’s food PR agency.
We took the story out under embargo ahead of launch, and it landed right across the grocery and retail press:
The Grocer,
Grocery Trader, Grocery Gazette, Retail Gazette,
Retail Times and
Inside Food & Drink. Several of the articles led on the thing that makes this story more than a listing announcement — the sharp rise in shoppers actively searching for no-added-nitrites products.
That's the difference between announcing a product and telling a story. One is a press release. The other is a reason for a journalist to care. It’s the power of Proper PR.
Sunny & Luna Moves Beyond Pasta
For Sunny & Luna, September brought the announcement we'd spent the summer preparing: the brand's move beyond pasta and gnocchi into fresh Italian sauces, landing in Sainsbury's.
The trade announcement secured coverage in The Grocer, Retail Times, Better Retailing and Inside Food & Drink - a proper result for a challenger brand stepping into a new category, and one that puts Sunny & Luna in front of exactly the buyers and industry audiences that matter as the range rolls out.
We've also kept building founder Giulia Berretti's profile in the national press. Giulia built this brand from nothing, with no food industry background and no blueprint. That's a story that travels a long way past the food pages, and September is when that work started to come good.
'Flaws & All' Lands Across the Wedding Press
Over the summer we launched 'Flaws & All' for Flawsome!, the drinks brand on a mission to fight food waste.
We built the campaign on original research of 2,000 UK adults. It found that 81% of people think a wedding doesn't need to be perfect to be memorable, and 71% reckon social media has piled the pressure on couples to deliver a 'perfect' day. For a brand built on the idea that fruit doesn't need to look perfect to taste incredible, you couldn't ask for a neater fit.
The campaign secured 14 pieces of coverage across the wedding press in September, putting the research in front of couples at exactly the point they're deep in planning and making decisions about what their day is going to look like. We also secured a real wedding placement off the back of it.
Research-led PR works when the insight genuinely belongs to the brand. Bolt a survey onto a product that has nothing to do with it and journalists can smell it a mile off. Build it on something the brand actually believes, and it flies.
Two New Clients - More In October
We signed two new clients in September and we're itching to tell you about both.
One is a food and drink brand with a proper heritage story behind it. Very much our home turf. The other is a sports brand, in one of the fastest-growing categories in the country right now. Different sector, same approach.
More on both in October. We promise.
A Launch For Sunkiss Society
Closer to home, September brought the launch of Sunkiss Society by Nicole, a new tanning studio in Brentwood.
This one's very much our patch. We're an Essex agency, Brentwood is on our doorstep, and beauty is a sector we know inside out - so we knew exactly which titles, which journalists and which local creators would actually care. Our announcement went out to regional media, coverage landed in the local titles, and we ran a gifted creator programme to introduce the studio to local audiences.
That creator element is doing more work than it looks. Gifted collaborations don't just put a brand in front of someone else's audience - they can generate a stream of
user-generated content. Platform-native content made by real people consistently outperforms the polished stuff, and for a new independent business it builds something advertising can't buy: proof that actual customers rate you.
Launching a new independent business is a very different brief to a national product launch, but the principle doesn't change. Find the story, find the people who'll care, and tell it properly.
Expert Commentary For Oltco
For resin driveway specialist Oltco, September brought more national homes coverage, with the brand featuring in Homebuilding & Renovating's guide to driveway design.
Expert commentary is one of the most underrated tools in digital PR. Your team already knows more about your category than any journalist does. The job is simply making sure the right journalist knows that too.
Our Christmas PR Package Is Open — But Not For Long
Right, back to Christmas - because we weren't joking at the top of this post.
Christmas gift guides and festive features are being written right now. The nationals work months ahead, and the brands that make it into those pages are the ones whose products were in front of the right journalists early. By December, that door is shut and bolted.
So we run a Christmas PR package: a flat £2,000 + VAT, covering all national and consumer UK media. Outreach starts the moment you're signed off and runs right the way through to Christmas.
All we need from you to get going is hi-res imagery and your product descriptions. Lifestyle and cut-out shots ideally; cut-outs at an absolute minimum.
Past festive campaigns have landed our clients in The Guardian, The Sun, Vogue, Bella, This Morning, Stylist and the Daily Star. Our team will make sure your product gets in front of the journalists who matter, properly, and early enough to count.
If you want in,
get in touch - but don't sit on it.
Looking Ahead
October's a big one. Campaigns live across the portfolio, launches to support, two client announcements we're sitting on, and some news we really can't wait to share.
As always, we're here to bring back proper PR: thoughtful storytelling, strong media relationships and creative campaigns that earn attention rather than buying it.
If you're a food and drink, homes, interiors or lifestyle brand looking for support with PR, social media management or influencer marketing,
get in touch with the Orange team. We're a food and drink PR agency based in Colchester, Essex, working with brands right across the UK - whether it's Christmas you're thinking about, or the whole of 2027.
